AutoPlay Privacy Policy
AutoPlay: Car Screen Video for iPhone, CarPlay, Android phones, Android Auto and cars with Google built-in · Effective October 24, 2026
In short: AutoPlay needs no account, and what you add to the app (playlists, logins, videos) stays on your phone (or in your car, on cars with Google built-in) — we never receive it. The free version shows ads (Google AdMob). With your consent where required, the app also sends anonymous usage statistics and crash reports (Google Firebase) and ad-measurement events (Meta); you can turn each of these off in Settings > Privacy. The sections below explain the details.
Who we are
AutoPlay is published by Rotenberg Softs (Seyhmus Gümüs), Gaustraße 42, 55411 Bingen am Rhein, Germany. Contact: [email protected].
Data stored only on your device
To work, AutoPlay keeps the following on your device. We never receive it, and it is deleted when you delete the app:
- The sources you add: M3U playlist links and Xtream Codes server addresses and usernames. Passwords are kept encrypted: in the iOS Keychain on iPhone, and with the Android Keystore on Android.
- A copy of each downloaded playlist, so the library opens offline.
- Videos you import from your files.
- Favourites, recently played titles, resume points and your settings.
- A small diagnostic log of car connection events. It never leaves the device unless you choose to share it from Settings.
On Android, app data is excluded from Google backups, so none of it is copied to a cloud account.
Connections the app makes
AutoPlay connects directly to the playlist and streaming servers you add, and to the logo and poster addresses listed in your playlist. Those servers see your IP address as with any download, and their own privacy policies apply. AutoPlay does not send them anything else.
Location and driving state
On phones, with your permission, AutoPlay uses your location while it is in use to tell whether the car is parked: video shows only while parked, and the picture hides when the car moves. It also shows your speed on the dashboard. Location is processed on your phone only; it is not stored and not sent to us or anyone else. You can turn it off at any time in your phone's settings (iPhone: Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services; Android: Settings > Location > App location permissions).
In cars with Google built-in, AutoPlay does not use location: the car itself reports whether it is parked or moving.
Camera, photos and files
The camera is used only to scan a playlist QR code; images are not stored or sent. When you import videos, only the files you pick are copied into the app.
Local network and notifications
Local network access lets AutoPlay reach media servers on your home network. Notifications tell you when a charging break is over and, only if you turn on tips, show an occasional tip; to deliver them the app registers a push token with Firebase Cloud Messaging (see the next section).
Usage statistics, crash reports and notifications (Google Firebase)
AutoPlay uses Google Firebase (Google Ireland Ltd., Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland). Firebase Analytics receives anonymous usage statistics (which features are used, app version, device model, iOS version, country) only if you allow it (in the EU, UK and Switzerland we ask first; everywhere you can turn it off in Settings > Privacy). Firebase Crashlytics receives crash reports (device model, iOS version, the code location of the crash); you can turn this off in Settings > Privacy. Firebase Cloud Messaging stores a push token so we can send notifications you allowed. We never send titles, playlists, links or logins. Legal bases: consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR) for statistics, legitimate interest in a stable app (Art. 6(1)(f)) for crash reports, and your request for notifications (Art. 6(1)(b)). Data may be processed in the USA under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. Statistics are kept for 2 months.
Advertising (Google AdMob)
The free version of AutoPlay shows ads from Google AdMob (Google Ireland Ltd.). AdMob receives device information (device model, iOS version, an advertising-related device identifier where permitted, IP address and the approximate location derived from it) and how you interact with the ads, to show, limit and measure ads and to prevent fraud. In the EU, UK and Switzerland we ask for your consent first through Google's consent form; you can change your choice at any time in Settings > Privacy > Ad privacy choices. Without consent, Google may still show non-personalised or limited ads. AutoPlay does not ask for permission to track you across apps. Premium has no ads. Legal basis: consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR, § 25 TDDDG) and, for non-personalised ads, our legitimate interest in funding the free version (Art. 6(1)(f)). Ad measurement (Meta)
To measure our ads on Facebook and Instagram, AutoPlay tells Meta Platforms Ireland Ltd. (Merrion Road, Dublin 4, Ireland) when the app is opened, which screens and features are used (for example that onboarding was completed or a video started, never which one), and when a trial, subscription or purchase starts, with its price and currency. Meta receives device information, an app-specific identifier and your IP address, and the advertising identifier (IDFA) only if you allow tracking in Apple's prompt. In the EU, UK and Switzerland this happens only after you agree on the Home card; everywhere you can turn it off in Settings > Privacy > Measure ads with Meta, and tracking in iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking. We never send titles, playlists, links or logins. Legal basis: consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR, § 25 TDDDG). Data may be processed in the USA under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. Purchases
AutoPlay Premium is sold through the App Store on iPhone and through Google Play on Android. Apple or Google processes the payment; we never see your payment details. The app checks your purchase status with Apple or Google on the device.
In the car
What AutoPlay shows in CarPlay, on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island is generated on your iPhone and handled by iOS. What it shows in Android Auto and on the screen of a car with Google built-in is generated by the app on your phone or in the car and handled by Android.
Children
AutoPlay is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect data from anyone.
Your rights
Where personal data is processed as described above (statistics, crash reports, advertising, ad measurement), you have the right to access, rectify and erase it, to restrict or object to the processing, and to withdraw any consent at any time with effect for the future — directly in the app under Settings > Privacy (ads: Ad privacy choices; tracking: iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking). What you add to the app itself never reaches us. For privacy questions or requests, write to [email protected]. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update it on this page and change the date above.
